Hiking: The best region of Mauritius for free hiking is the west, due to the "Black River Gorges" National park from which several short and long hikes are possible and easily accessible.

There are however, plenty of wonderful tracks that are entirely or partly within private properties; either commercially open for guided hikes Yemen Park, Domaine de L'Etoile, Yemaya Adventures having exclusivity on these premises.

Some hiking trips are more adrenalin-pumping as they include zip-lines and abseiling.
